Dental Programs
Executive Summary
The Dental Programs Pathway Project, led by Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ), is advancing the development of comprehensive academic and workforce training programs to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in New Jersey’s dental industry. The project introduced a newly developed Dental Assisting Academic Certificate and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree Program, pending final accreditation by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Both programs were created with extensive instructional materials and have received state-level academic approvals.
In addition to credit-bearing pathways, RCSJ launched several non-credit initiatives to meet learners at various entry points. These include a Dental Administrative Assistant Program, a Dental Radiography Program for currently employed assistants seeking credentials, and a high school-level Introduction to Dentistry course. To support adult learners and working professionals, the college is pursuing Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credit for non-credit coursework.
With robust engagement from local high schools and strong student interest—including waitlists for upcoming non-credit classes—RCSJ is expanding educational access and professional mobility for aspiring dental workers across New Jersey.
