Executive Summary
Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) developed a 35-credit Dental Assisting Academic Certificate program and an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Dental Assisting. The certificate program is a 10-month track that equips students with foundational knowledge and clinical experience, while the associate degree pathway offers continued academic growth and expanded career opportunities. Students who completed a CODA-accredited program elsewhere may be awarded up to 29 PLA credits toward the A.A.S. degree.
Both programs have received institutional and state approvals and are pending final accreditation from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), following a site visit in October 2024. RCSJ plans to begin accepting applications in January 2025 for the first program cohort starting in July 2025.
