Executive Summary

The Nursing Summer Immersive Badge Program advanced professional development by leveraging the expertise of veteran nursing faculty to deliver high-impact, specialty-focused clinical instruction. Faculty members with more than three decades of experience in Oncology and Emergency Medicine were instrumental in designing and delivering the immersive curriculum, which integrated didactic instruction, simulation labs, and clinical practice.

These faculty not only taught the summer sessions but also modeled best practices in specialty care and mentorship. They developed content specific to each nursing specialty that emphasized both clinical skill-building and the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Their leadership reinforced the value of mentorship and experiential learning in clinical education.

Additionally, clinical partners and hospital staff collaborated with faculty to facilitate placements and feedback loops, further supporting the professional development of both students and educators. Clinical debriefings, individualized student feedback, and structured skills assessments ensured students progressed in both confidence and competence.

This pathway connection highlights the dual benefit of the program: preparing students for specialty care environments while enhancing faculty engagement and growth. The structure and outcomes of this immersive serve as a model for how targeted clinical instruction can elevate teaching, strengthen nursing education, and improve workforce readiness.
