Executive Summary
This pathway connection focused on supporting adult English as a Second Language (ESL) learners through an Integrated Education and Training (IET) model that merges language instruction with healthcare career preparation. Recognizing the potential of adult learners who bring rich cultural perspectives and a strong desire to contribute to their communities, the pilot program provided a supportive and contextualized learning environment tailored to their needs.
The curriculum was designed to help adult learners build both English language skills and foundational knowledge in the healthcare field. By engaging in career-relevant training while improving literacy, students were equipped to take meaningful steps toward employment in allied health professions.
This effort highlights the critical role of tailored programming in ensuring adult learners can successfully access and progress along high-demand healthcare pathways.
