Executive Summary
Non-credit training opportunities were developed and implemented to equip students with entry-level mental and behavioral health skills. Through partnerships with the New Jersey Mental Health Association and partner colleges, students completed Mental Health First Aid training and gained exposure to the roles of psychiatric technicians and support specialists.
Two certification pathways were offered: (1) Mental Health Support Technician, which includes three industry-recognized credentials, and (2) a dual certification pathway combining Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and mental health credentials. These stackable programs are aligned with Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) strategies, enabling students to earn credit toward future academic credentials.
