Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
Executive Summary
After review of the program by the American Council of Education (ACE), students who complete the Medical Assistant Program and achieve the CCMA credential receive nine PLA credits which are entered onto an Atlantic Cape transcript as non-descript free electives, toward the Health Sciences A.S. degree.
Following an extensive review of the Medical Assistant Program curriculum it was determined that a more equable evaluation, in terms of credit value, was warranted. The opportunity to translate this non-credit curriculum into credit value was undertaken using the process of course to credit course equivalency. During the review of the curriculum it was noted that the curriculum also included the course work required for certification as a Phlebotomy Technician not included in the ACE evaluation.
