ScPro: Connection to CC (Credit) and to 4 yr Univ

Executive Summary

The SCPro Pathway Project, led by Essex County College (ECC), established a comprehensive model to expand student access and success in Supply Chain Management education and careers. The project focused on integrating industry-recognized SCPro™ Fundamentals certifications, credentialed by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), into both credit and non-credit programming. These credentials, combined with academic coursework, created a structured and practical pathway for students—from high school through community college and on to four-year universities.

ECC launched pilot programs that allowed students enrolled in its Associate of Science in Supply Chain Management program to prepare for and take SCPro™ certification exams. Non-credit learners, including adult learners, were also supported with opportunities to earn certifications and transition into credit-bearing pathways through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). The program issued paid vouchers and test preparation through CSCMP’s platform, ensuring equitable access to credentials that elevate career readiness.

In collaboration with Brookdale Community College, the project expanded its reach by building capacity for Train-the-Trainer efforts and aligning curricula. West Side High School explored a dual enrollment expansion to offer students a seamless connection to ECC’s degree program. Additionally, ECC advanced an articulation agreement with Rutgers Business School – Newark to ensure that students pursuing this pathway have access to a clearly defined transfer route into a bachelor’s degree program.

Through this multi-tiered approach, the SCPro Pathway Project provided stackable credential opportunities, broadened access for underrepresented students, and created clear transitions across education levels—all aligned to the real-time needs of employers in New Jersey’s supply chain sector.
