Executive Summary

To expand early exposure to career pathways in supply chain management, Essex County College (ECC) worked with West Side High School in Newark to explore a new dual enrollment program. This effort was designed to allow high school students to earn college credit while gaining industry-relevant knowledge and certifications aligned with ECC’s Associate Degree in Supply Chain Management.

The dual enrollment pathway will offer students access to SCPro™ Fundamentals test preparation and coursework, culminating in the opportunity to earn industry-valued credentials through the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). The program also lays the groundwork for students to transition smoothly into ECC’s degree program with credits that stack directly toward a postsecondary credential.

A cohort launch is under consideration for Spring 2025, expanding access for underrepresented students and providing a head start toward credentials that are in high demand across logistics, operations, and procurement sectors. This early college model not only increases academic and career momentum but also aligns high school curriculum with postsecondary and workforce expectations.
