Executive Summary

SCCC continues to partner with Project Self-Sufficiency and the New Jersey Youth Corps to deliver optics education to underserved populations, including adult learners and students pursuing their high school equivalency (HSE). Participants in these community-based programs are enrolled in college-level coursework, specifically Fundamentals of Optics I, which provides a foundational understanding of optics technology.

To date, over 100 students have benefited from these efforts, expanding access to technical education and enabling new career opportunities in a high-demand industry. Some participants have gone on to internships with local optics employers following their HSE completion.
