Executive Summary
The SCPro Pathway Project launched with a dual pilot program at Essex County College (ECC) designed to validate and refine the integration of industry credentials into academic and non-credit learning environments. The pilot focused on two student cohorts: one composed of credit-bearing students enrolled in ECC’s Associate Degree in Supply Chain Management, and the other of non-credit learners pursuing industry credentials with potential credit conversion through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA).
The pilot for credit students enrolled 20 participants who received structured preparation for SCPro™ Fundamentals certifications. These students were given the option to use the certification exam as a final course assessment and had access to paid test vouchers and CSCMP’s online training.
A second pilot group of 15 non-credit students pursued the same SCPro™ certifications, with the opportunity to convert those credentials into three credits for SCM 101 upon formal enrollment at ECC. These participants were guided through the credit evaluation process and encouraged to declare Supply Chain Management as their major to continue their academic journey.
This pilot phase successfully demonstrated the feasibility of embedding industry certification into both academic and workforce training programs. The outcomes provide a scalable model for expanding access to credentials, creating non-credit to credit pathways, and boosting the career readiness of learners from diverse backgrounds.
