NJ Big Data Alliance-Data Science Articulation

Executive Summary

The NJ Big Data Alliance – Data Science Articulation project fosters statewide collaboration among Community Colleges and four-year institutions to create seamless transfer pathways in Data Science.

In 2024, the NJ Big Data Alliance (NJBDA) formally expanded its membership to include community colleges, strengthening the bridge between two- and four-year institutions and enabling more comprehensive statewide collaboration in advanced computing and data analytics. Through coordinated research, the project facilitates the alignment of Data Science coursework to ensure consistent credit transfer and academic progression.

Additionally, Essex County College launched a new Associate of Science in Computer Science with a Data Science Option in Fall 2024, featuring newly developed courses in data science, artificial intelligence, and data visualization. Multiple articulation agreements have already been established between participating community colleges and universities, including New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Kean University, Drew University, and others.

The work of this project not only streamlines student pathways but also sets a model for future articulation collaborations across other industries and Centers of Workforce Innovation.
