Executive Summary
Essex County College’s (ECC) Bloomberg Fintech project emphasizes learning by doing. Students gained practical experience in financial strategy by participating in the 2023 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge, competing against thousands of college teams worldwide. Using Bloomberg Terminals, ECC students formed three teams to create market strategies and execute simulated trades within a secure, real-time platform.
The competition culminated in a visit to Bloomberg’s New York City headquarters, where students earned certifications of participation—boosting their résumés and LinkedIn profiles. In addition, ECC hosted monthly expert guest speakers through its Business Division, offering students valuable insights into Fintech and business innovation from current professionals. This emphasis on experiential learning ensures students are both skilled and career ready.
