Esports Production Content Creation Hub Pathway Pilot
Executive Summary
The Esports Production Content Creation Hub Pathway Pilot, led by Camden County College, launched a first-of-its-kind academic model in New Jersey to support one of the fastest-growing entertainment and media sectors—esports. With a strong emphasis on production and content creation, the project created and aligned credit and non-credit educational pathways that directly meet the needs of industry, opening opportunities for high school students, adult learners, and current workers alike.
Working in close collaboration with Horizon AVL Esports Integration and several high schools and higher education institutions, Camden County College developed the only two-year Associate of Applied Science in Esports Production degree in the mid-Atlantic region. The program integrates high-demand skills in multimedia editing, audio recording, and streaming—connecting directly to careers in esports, video and audio production, film, and digital media.
The pilot fostered statewide impact through activities such as the creation of New Jersey’s first intercollegiate in-person esports league, professional development events for educators, articulation agreements with Stockton University and others, and the development of new courses and certifications, including Adobe, Unreal Engine, and CompTIA. Dual enrollment courses were launched in partner high schools, and curriculum mapping was initiated to build seamless transitions from high school to college, and on to four-year institutions.
The project also created models for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) in esports production, experiential learning through high school competitions, and outreach to diverse student populations including veterans and justice-impacted individuals.
With a combination of academic innovation, industry partnership, and inclusive student engagement, this pathway project has laid the foundation for scalable esports education in New Jersey and beyond.
