PATHWAY CONNECTION

The Esports Production Content Creation Hub integrated Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) as a means to recognize the existing knowledge and skills of learners—particularly adult learners and high school students with prior esports or content creation experience.

Camden County College collaborated with faculty and industry leaders to develop a portfolio-based assessment model. Through this approach, learners can demonstrate mastery of course learning outcomes by submitting portfolios showcasing their prior work. Portfolios are reviewed by Esports Department faculty to determine if learning objectives have been met and if academic credit can be awarded.

This PLA model opens up more accessible pathways to credential and degree attainment by acknowledging real-world, non-traditional learning experiences. It also provides a framework that can be shared across institutions seeking to implement esports PLA strategies statewide.
