Integration and Pilot of New EV Technician ASE Standards (HS & CC Non-Credit)

Camden County College, in collaboration with Camden County Technical Schools, launched an innovative effort to integrate and pilot new industry standards into electric vehicle (EV) training programs at both the high school and non-credit community college levels. This project incorporates the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Electrified Propulsion Vehicle (xEV) High Voltage Electrical Safety Standards into existing automotive training programs, creating clear and connected pathways for students and adult learners.

The high school component embeds EV content into a four-year Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, offering students foundational knowledge in EV systems, safety, and sustainability. Modules include renewable energy concepts, battery management, charging infrastructure, and electric motor design. This enhanced curriculum provides early exposure to in-demand EV technician skills and industry awareness.

On the community college side, three non-credit, stackable EV courses were developed. These offerings—ranging from electrical safety to advanced technician skills—are designed for incumbent workers and adult learners seeking professional development. Each course aligns with ASE xEV industry credentials, ensuring students can advance their knowledge while earning recognized certifications.

This multi-level model prepares students and professionals to meet the growing workforce demand in electric vehicle technologies and sets the stage for future academic and career progression in this rapidly expanding field.
