Exploration for Wind Energy Careers, a Virtual Experience

The Exploration for Wind Energy Careers, a Virtual Experience project introduced innovative programming to help students and adult learners explore high-demand careers in offshore wind energy. This project focused on three key areas: introducing offshore wind and renewable energy concepts in high schools, expanding professional development for instructors, and providing immersive career exploration experiences.

Participants engaged in interactive, virtual reality (VR) simulations that offered a realistic glimpse into the daily work of Wind Turbine Technicians, helping them visualize future career possibilities. Instructors received train-the-trainer resources and professional development to enhance their ability to teach renewable energy content and connect students with relevant industry opportunities. These experiences sparked career interest among students while helping educators integrate wind energy concepts into STEM curriculum.

By supporting both career seekers and instructors, this project helped build awareness of the growing offshore wind sector and created stronger links between education and New Jersey’s clean energy goals.
