Executive Summary

The Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) successfully conducted career exploration workshops for 13 Atlantic and Gloucester counties students, focusing on the Wind Turbine Technician position. These workshops were held at Atlantic Cape Community College—Worthington Campus in Atlantic City, Room 278, scheduled every Monday and Tuesday from March 18, 2024, to April 2, 2024.

Rowan College of South Jersey provided participants with a three-hour Exploration in Wind Energy Careers Workshop. The workshop allows participants to explore different career options in wind energy that will help contribute to keeping our planet and people safe in the future. Wind energy careers focus on improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions.

Instructors provided overviews in the following areas:

  • Energy Careers (Described the relevant careers in the wind energy industry, analyzed which career best aligns with participants’ interest, and created an Academic and Professional Plan.)
  • Introduction to Wind Energy (Wind Energy Basics, How Distributed Wind Works, How Do Wind Turbines Work, Advantages and Challenges in Wind Energy, Analyze which career best aligns with your interest.)
  • Renewable Energy 101 (Define renewable energy, identify New Jersey’s vision for renewable energy, and describe how renewable energy impacts your life and future.)
