Executive Summary
Rowan College of South Jersey delivered a non-credit career exploration workshop designed to introduce adult learners to offshore wind energy and the role of Wind Turbine Technicians. Over a series of structured, in-person sessions, students explored foundational wind energy concepts, career opportunities, and safety protocols.
A key feature of the course was the immersive Virtual Reality (VR) lab experience using the Quest 3 VR system. Students virtually boarded a Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV), climbed a wind turbine, and completed mechanical and high-voltage safety tasks. These simulations brought the technician role to life while reinforcing classroom instruction. The course successfully prepared participants to explore offshore wind careers and contributed to the region’s growing clean energy workforce pipeline.
