Executive Summary

The EV Rover and EV Go-Kart pilot introduced two immersive STEM-based learning experiences into New Jersey high schools, focusing on electric vehicle awareness and engineering design.

The EV Rover Laboratory was piloted in the Engineering Design course for freshmen at Applied Technology High School. Students explored fundamental concepts in physics, electronics, and vehicle design through hands-on lab activities. This curriculum has been formally integrated into the course going forward.

The EV Go-Kart Design Challenge was implemented at Applied Technology High School (Paramus), Bergen County Technical School (Teterboro), and John Dwyer Technical Academy (Elizabeth). Students engaged in full-cycle engineering work, from CAD modeling to frame construction and assembly, using a project guide and materials list developed through prior NJ Pathways work. All three schools documented their work to support future instructors and ensure sustainability of the program.

A statewide EV Go-Kart competition will be hosted by Bergen Community College in Spring 2025. This pilot not only engaged students in real-world engineering and clean energy concepts but also laid the groundwork for annual collaboration and competition across institutions.
