Career and Technical Education (CTE) Train the Trainer Pilot

Executive Summary

The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Train the Trainer Program pathway project was designed to help construction industry experts who wish to pivot their careers and teach the next generation of workers, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed for a career in education. This program aimed to prepare experienced professionals in construction and the trades to acquire the foundational skills needed to teach noncredit programs within New Jersey Community Colleges.

The program is delivered by adult education professionals equipped with teaching experience and covers topics such as emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in addition to curriculum design, assessment, and student evaluation.

Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) staff sought to recruit and train professionals in water/wastewater and construction fields to participate in the program to prepare them for employment opportunities at NJ community colleges for noncredit training opportunities. Outreach and recruitment efforts targeted local municipal utility authorities, construction companies, and building trades unions for this initiative. A maximum of 10 participants were to be considered for this opportunity and conducted in an in-person or a hybrid format.
