Aseptic Processing
Executive Summary
The Aseptic Processing Pathway Project, part of the Center of Workforce Innovation for Aseptic Processing & Biomanufacturing, is building a career-aligned education and training pipeline that spans from high school through adult learners. Led by Raritan Valley Community College, in partnership with Middlesex College, Mercer County Community College, and Somerset County Vocational-Technical School, the project focuses on developing programs that connect students and workers to high-demand careers in aseptic processing and biomanufacturing.
Key accomplishments include the completion of non-credit aseptic curriculum by Middlesex College, a six-week Biotechnology Fundamentals bootcamp hosted for high school students, and the development of a cleanroom training lab by Raritan Valley Community College. Industry partnerships with leading biomanufacturing employers have been instrumental in supporting curriculum design, providing experiential learning opportunities, and helping define pathway progression from non-credit to credit offerings.
This cross-institutional effort addresses the workforce needs of a rapidly growing industry by prioritizing real-world training experiences, creating stackable credentials, and engaging adult learners and career changers through pilot programs and immersive learning tools.
